       The film that I've watch is entitled "7 Sundays." This film is all about family, love and life situations. The main character of this movie are Ronaldo Valdez (as their father), Aga Mulach as Allan, Dingdong Dantes as Bryan, Cristine Reyes as Cha and Enrique Gil as Dex. The main goal of the film is to show to the audience what family means. This movie has a lot of family problems and circumstances which they need to face. The four siblings, Allan, Bryan, Cha and Dex has a lot of misunderstanding. And their father wanted them to face it and forgive each other for it is the only way for them to be whole and called family again. Since their father has a Lung Cancer (according from his doctor's finding) and he has only 7 weeks to live which means 7 Sundays. He grab that opportunity and he let his children know about his ailment. Through this he told his children that he wanted them to settle all of their arguments before he passed away. He told them that every Sunday will be the time for them to go out and to bond as a family. After the discussion, the four siblings have their very first plan for their father. Every Sunday, they visit their father and do some things just to show their father that they are already ok. But the truth is they are not yet ok. They only show it for they wanted their father to be ok.

     As the days goes by, their father found out that he doesn't have a Lung cancer. His doctor got mistaken about his findings. But rather he only have a Tuberculosis. After he know about that, he didn't know what to do. Either he would tell his children the truth or to continue to make them believe that he have a Cancer. He cannot choose between the two for he saw his children the cooperation, understanding and love that he wanted them to have since then. He tried to hide it. But he told himself to tell the truth when everything is in place according to his plan. But sad to say, his son, Allan discover the truth for he tried to brought his wife to the hospital for a check-up.  Then so, after he discover what his father trying to hide, he then went to his father’s house to confirm what he had discover. After that, Allan try to convince his father to tell the truth. But then his father told him the reason why he didn’t want them to know everything.

     During that night all his children discover his secret. But then, they accept the fact and they learn from it. They become one as what their father want them. After knowing their father’s reason why he tried to hide the truth, they realize everything and they end up to solve their misunderstanding.

     This story gives a lot of lessons to open the mind of one’s family. Family is the basic unit of the society. What comes from the family, is the result of the society.

*What you think is the state of academic writing in the Philippine context?

Academic writing is an important kind of writing most especially in professional writers. But in my own opinion, I admit that we are lack of readership. Because not all writer’s admit a matter of fact. According to the book I’ve read teacher Butch Dalisay said “I’d rather have a thousand of readers at home than to have 10,000 readers in New York.” And actually mean it. He proved that the idea of the task of writing is removed and extraneous to context.

As what I have learned in our lessons, we can say that it is an academic writing if the writer gives out research and listen to the opinion of the others. Then why is it some of our writers write their own journal according to what they know and according to their own opinion? And then they published it and considered it as an academic writing already. Is it right? The problem is that we did not follow the rule of academic writing before we published or submit our journal/literature. Sometimes we use informal vocabulary in which it is not applicable in academic writing. First and foremost we must avoid using informal vocabularies in an academic writing. But some of our writers still did that and consider their writing as an academic one. This is why teacher Dalisay assertions about writing in the Philippines, truthful and honest and self-deprecating, can only be important and relevant because academic writing is quite formal.

On the other hand, we cannot gives out instructions in our academic writing because it will consider as a court order.

That’s why teacher Dalisay added, “the Filipino is not a theory, they are not academic.” This means that we, Filipinos has a lacked of knowledge and understanding when it comes to academic writing. We need a lot of practice to gain a successful knowledge in this particular learning. We must first learn what is academic writing is? What is the importance of academic writing? What are it’s features? And what is the difference of academic writing in other kinds of writing. After we learned all of this, we can apply a perfect way of writing an academic writing. We can possibly learn all things if we have a determination to learn and to understand what we have learned.

My Experience

To the guy who thought that I wasn't good enough

    Thank you for making me feel that I wasn't someone worth fighting for. Thank you for making me question and doubt every little thing about myself. Thank you for making me second guess my actions. Thank you for making me feel unimportant and a nuisance in your life. Thank you for making me down countless times. Thank you for keeping secrets that everyone knew, except me. Thank you for constantly lying about who you really are. Thank you for making abig fool out of me. Thank you for bringing out my worst side. Thank you for showing me that you can change for the better for someone else but you can't for me. Thank you for leaving even if I give you everything that I had. Thank you for letting go and reminding me that I was the only one holding on. That you for all the times that you made me feel blue. Thank you for making me regret for all the months I spent loving you.

    Because if you hadn't done all those things, I woudn't realize my worth. I woudn't realize that I should finally stop settling for any less than I deserve. I woudn't realize that I want to find a love that would never make me feel the same things you did. And I know I will, eventually. I will find someone who appreciates everyhting I do. I will find someone who will never take me for granted. I will find someone who will do everything you woudn't. For now, knowing that is enough, I am enough. I know I am, even if you didn't.
